TL;DR
- Yes. We set up business email on your domain, like [email protected].
- Webmaster For Hire recommends paid business email over the free email that comes with hosting.
- It’s billed per user, per month. Choose web-only email or email with desktop software.
- We add email security records to your DNS so nobody can easily pretend to be you.
Business Email Through Webmaster For Hire
We sell business email and office software from a major provider with a small management fee added and billed per user each month:
- Basic: web-based email and web versions of the office apps. No desktop software.
- Standard: email plus desktop software you install, with our support.
Both include plenty of mailbox and cloud storage, plus video meetings. You choose how many mailboxes you need. A mailbox is an account with its own login, which you read and reply from. Extra addresses that forward to someone else don’t need their own mailbox.
We help with DNS setup, setting up email on your computers, and instructions for your phone. If you’re comfortable doing the setup yourself, we recommend it. You can also buy the same plans directly from the provider for less.
Why Paid Business Email Beats Free Hosting Email
- Shared servers. Email that comes with hosting shares a server with other customers. If they get blacklisted (flagged as a spam sender), your email can get caught too.
- Free webmail only acts as you. When you send business email through a free personal account, it doesn’t truly come from your business’s own mail server.
- Access it anywhere, on your phone, computer, or tablet.
Email Security Records: SPF, DKIM, and DMARC
These are lines added to your domain’s DNS (the settings that tell the internet where your email and website live). Together, they help prove your email really comes from you and make it harder for others to spoof (fake) your address. Major email providers now require at least some of them, and all three for businesses that send a lot of email.
- What we need: access to wherever your DNS is managed (usually your registrar), and an email address to receive DMARC reports.
- Heads up: you’ll get a lot of emails with DMARC in the subject line. Those are reports. You can delete them.
What Webmaster For Hire Recommends
- Pay only for the mailboxes you use. We check plans for mailboxes nobody uses anymore.
- Set up SPF, DKIM, and DMARC from the start. We add them when we set up email, and whenever delivery problems show up.
- Keep the domain in your name. If your domain lapses, your email stops. See Should I Buy My Domain Through My Webmaster or the Registrar?
