# How Do I Add Sponsor Logos to My Website?

## TL;DR

- **Upload the logo to your Media Library first,** and give it alt text with the sponsor's name.
- **Then add it where your logos show:** a sponsors page, a logo grid, or a logo slider.
- **Link each logo** to the sponsor's website, opening in a new tab.
- **Lots of sponsors? Give them their own page.** A long scrolling strip of logos loses people.
- **Rather not do it yourself?** Send us the logo, the link, and the sponsor level.

## Where Do Sponsor Logos Live on My Website?

- **A sponsors page.** Logos sit in a grid or gallery on a regular page. You edit it under Pages.
- **A logo slider.** A scrolling strip of logos, often on the home page. It may have its own section in your dashboard, added by your theme or a plugin, or it may be a block on the page. The name varies, like Logos, Sponsors, or Slider.
- **A sponsorship levels page.** Lists each level and what it includes. Some sites also have a PDF version.

## How Do I Add a Sponsor Logo?

Start with the best logo file the sponsor has, ideally a PNG with a transparent background. See [What Logo File Formats Do I Need for My Website and Print?](/knowledge-base/planning-a-new-website-or-redesign/logo-file-formats-website-print/) Then:

1. **Go to Media** in your WordPress dashboard and upload the logo.
2. **Click the logo** and type the sponsor's name in the Alternative Text box.
3. **Open the spot where your logos show.** Edit your sponsors page, or open your logo slider's section.
4. **Add the logo.** In a grid or gallery, add the image. In a slider, add a new slide or logo and choose the image.
5. **Link it.** Paste the sponsor's website address and turn on "Open in new tab." See [How Do I Add or Change a Link on My Website?](/knowledge-base/updating-your-website/add-change-link-website/)
6. **Save,** then check the live page. Clear your browser's cache if you don't see the change.

## How Do I Mark a Sponsorship Level as Sold?

1. **Edit your sponsorship page.**
2. **Find the level** and add SOLD next to it.
3. **Save the page.**
4. **Update any PDF too.** If a PDF lists the levels, upload the new version and update the link to it.

The web page is what most visitors see. On one site, Beth caught that "the sponsorship was only linking to the PDF document and not the web page where everything is listed."

## Should Sponsor Logos Scroll or Have Their Own Page?

A scrolling strip works for a handful of logos. Past that, a sponsors page is better. As Beth told one client with dozens of sponsors, "Nobody's going to wait to see all those logos." Her suggestion: "We should consider creating an Our Sponsors page."

A good sponsors page can open with header photos that show sponsors' logos, like a step-and-repeat (the logo backdrop people pose in front of) or branded shirts.

## Are Scrolling Logos Accessible?

Not always. A screen reader (software that reads a page aloud for people who can't see it) uses alt text to tell listeners what each linked logo is. In one accessibility review, Beth flagged sponsor logos "that scroll and are only images," with no text for the links. In that slider, it couldn't be fixed. A sponsors page avoids the problem.

## Rather Have Us Add Them?

Send us the logo file, the sponsor's website link, and their sponsorship level. We'll add it on your [Webmaster Retainer](https://webmasterforhire.us/website-services/webmaster-services-monthly-retainer/).

Swapping several logos at once? Use a screenshot. Beth's advice to one client: "Let me know which logos are being replaced and which ones to remove, by row and column number." See [How to Send Website Change Requests to Your Webmaster](/knowledge-base/working-with-webmaster-for-hire/send-website-change-requests/).

## What Webmaster For Hire Recommends

- **Give every logo alt text** with the sponsor's name.
- **Refresh the sponsorship page each year** from your new sponsorship package.
- **Move to a sponsors page** once the logo strip gets long.

## :: Common Questions ::

### Why Does My New Logo Look Blurry or Too Big?

Blurry usually means the file is too small and got stretched. Too big usually means it wasn't resized before upload. See [How to Resize Images Before Uploading Them to Your Website](/knowledge-base/wordpress-care-and-maintenance/resize-images-before-uploading/)

### Can You Build Our Sponsorship Page Each Year?

Yes. Send your new sponsorship package, and we'll update the page with this year's levels on your Webmaster Retainer.

## Have New Sponsors to Thank?
